My life’s work and career as an attorney has been dedicated to standing up for those who have been oppressed, mistreated, robbed of their rights and forced into harm’s way. I am proud of our victories in the courtroom, but there is much work still to be done. I will continue to fight any discrimination against any person based on sexual orientation or gender identity. This includes:

  • Supporting the Equality Act: This act, which now must be passed in the Senate, provides, “consistent and explicit non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people across key areas of life, including employment, housing, credit, education, public spaces and services, federally funded programs, and jury service.”

  • Ending discrimination at the doctor’s office: Dismantle health care discrimination to guarantee all LGBTQ people can get the healthcare they need while having their identities respected. This also includes guaranteed Paid Sick Leave for LGBTQ individuals who are at higher risk during a pandemic. I will also address Family and Medical Leave laws to apply to all our families regardless of who we love.

  • No means no: Require teaching Affirmative Consent across the nation as part of every Sex Ed curriculum: because queer and trans youth deserve to be safe in all situations including sexual activity.
