What is the State Central Committee (SCC) and how do you join?

The SCC is the governing body of the Democratic Party. This committee meets at least two times a year, where they elect the folks who serve in leadership positions for the New Mexico Democratic Party, including Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.

The SCC is organized by the County Central Committees (CCC).  Just like the state organization, the county committees govern each county’s Democratic Party.  These folks are elected for a two-year term and include the ward chairs, precinct chairs and more. These county committees are a collection of wards and wards are a collection of precincts.

All registered Democrats can participate in the election of county-level leaders in their precinct, called Ward Elections. The meetings are super easy to attend and held on Zoom, like all meetings these days. If you can't attend your Zoom meeting, you can still participate.
